Dog’s are people too, or so their owners say, and that is why dog health is as important for your pet as it is for you. In the past people guessed their dog’s age by multiplying by seven, but these days you can work out your dog’s biological age a lot more accurately based on your pet’s health, breed, behavior and risk of disease. Knowing your dog’s biological age is very important for looking after its health in general. An older dog will obviously have different health problems compared to a younger dog as aged dogs are more likely to suffer from problems like arthritis, while young dogs might sprain something while running round the park! Dog health is about both physical and mental wellbeing and this is why it helps to consider a well-rounded approach to keeping your pet happy. The right diet helps, but a run in the park or a gentle walk also leads to a well balanced pet who won’t just chew up the furniture or bark all day and annoy the neighbors! Just like people, dogs need personal care and it is important to keep their ears and eyes free of dirt and other things that can assist infections. Also your dog needs clean teeth to prevent decay and there are products made especially for these needs. Part of dog health is looking and feeling good so you can also buy things like clippers and breath treats that will make your dog feel great!
