Dog health comes from a variety of sources |

It doesn’t matter if you own a pedigree hound or a mongrel mutt you’ve adopted from off the streets, chances are that it will be a healthy and happy animal if it’s living in a well adjusted and happy household. All the more so if there are children to play with and keep it exercised and occupied for a lot of the time! But some dogs do get ill and the reasons for this are many and varied including viruses and even the flu which dogs can catch just like cats and people.
Like us they can take drugs to try getting over the common cold but mostly dog illness comes from long term issues which can be either genetic or environmental in origin. Especially if your pet has a pedigree you might need to be aware of special debilities attached to that breed of dog as some types have diseases specific to them; for example, liver problems plague some breeds. Diet is also very important and fat dogs that are constantly given treats and little exercise can easily develop diabetes or heart problems just as we can so your dog will be as pleased as you when you take the time to look after its health because it will be a much happier animal.
