The history of dogs and humans is strongly linked |

History as a discipline can only operate where there are written records and this means that much of human development is uncharted territory as far as historians are concerned. But dogs also suffer from the absence of a written record in the earliest era of their interaction with people. Pictures give the real clues about early dog and human relations and whether in ancient China, Britain or Egypt, dogs and people are seen in close contact with each other.
In this context it is no wonder that they have influenced one another and dogs have made their mark as pets while people have seriously altered the appearance and use of canines by breeding into them special characteristics that have become the origin of certain well known dog types today. Now these pets and working animals come in so many shapes and sizes that it can be hard to see their wild origins at all and some of them have been bred specifically to bring out peaceful traits that allow them to live among families and deal with little children and that helps make the history of dogs and their owners so very interesting.
